West Ham are still eyeing further deals to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the new season and have a left-back within their sights.

The Hammers have been linked with the services of Genoa full-back Diego Laxalt following his impressive performances for Uruguay at the World Cup in Russia.

25-year-old Laxalt has seen his name linked with a number of clubs as a result and his agent, Ariel Krasouski, has told RMC Sport that the Hammers have made an approach.

“So many clubs, not only Italian but also foreign. There are rumours. Napoli and also West Ham are interested. They made a proposal, I know the sporting director [Mario Husillos] and [Manuel] Pellegrini.

“We are talking, we will see what will happen.”
