West Ham’s vast activity in the transfer market shows no signs of stopping heading into the final few days of the summer window.

The Hammers have already landed eight new recruits during the close season, with the most recent acquisition being the capture of young forward Xande Silva from Vitoria, but Manuel Pellegrini wants to improve his ranks further.

According to journalist Lee Clayton, West Ham are growing increasingly confident of landing Brazil international Bernard on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old is available as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk in June and has attracted widespread interest across the continent.

West Ham have already bolstered their squad in wide areas after signing Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko but the expected departure of Michail Antonio will reduce their depth.

However, CalcioMercato states AC Milan are in the driving seat for a deal while Chelsea have also been heavily linked.
