West Ham United are keen to add some pace to their attacking options this summer.

Without Michail Antonio, there is a lack of genuine blistering pace and the Hammers are hoping to bring in one or two forwards with plenty of speed in the summer window.

One target that has popped up is Napoli’s Dries Mertens, according to The Sun.

Previously linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, West Ham are hoping to nip in and land the exciting winger, who can also play as a striker.

With 29 goals to his name this season, the Belgium international is hot property and Napoli want to keep him at the club.

However, the Premier League could be a tempting prospect for the 30-year-old.

It is believed that £20m could be enough to land Mertens, although Napoli have offered him a new contract with a release clause of £30m, according to reports.

There is no doubt that Mertens would add genuine pace, skill, quality and end product to West Ham’s attacking options but whether he would trade the prospect of Champions League football to play for West Ham remains to be seen.
