West Ham United will rival Everton in the battle to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to The Mirror.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has played a key role in keeping Swansea City up in the Premier League this season.

The Swans will be desperate to keep the Icelandic international star at the club but they might be powerless to prevent him leaving to join West Ham or Everton.

It is no secret that West Ham want to upgrade their attacking options this summer and Sigurdsson fits the bill as a versatile forward with Premier League experience.

Able to play as a central attacking midfielder, winger or a striker, the 27-year-old has contributed with 9 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League this season, despite Swansea’s struggles.

The former Reading, Hoffenheim and Tottenham star is under contract at the Liberty Stadium until summer 2020 but a bid of £25m is reportedly enough to prise him away from the Welsh club.

West Ham have admired Sigurdsson for several years now but might miss out if the skillful play-maker prefers a move to Everton, where he could be offered European football.

Everton need reinforcements in their attacking regions too and Sigurdsson is another decent fit for them, especially if Ross Barkley departs.
