West Ham continue to chase defensive targets following the injury setback sustained by Winston Reid and the Hammers have been handed a huge boost in the market.

The Liverpool Echo states that reports expressing Liverpool’s interest in World Cup finalist Domagoj Vida, who has been widely linked with a move to Manuel Pellegrini’s side, are wide of the mark.

29-year-old Croatia international Vida caught the eye with his performances for his nation in Russia and is tipped to earn a lucrative transfer away from Besiktas.

Speculated suggested that Liverpool were closing in on a deal for Vida but the latest report denies that is the case, indicating that Jurgen Klopp is happy with his options at centre-back and will not pursue a signing in this position.

West Ham have already drafted in Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop to bolster their options at the heart of defence but the concerns over Reid have left Manuel Pellegrini seeking additional recruits.
