Despite not yet having a manager and our season starting in about three weeks, the club appear to be making progress in their attempts to bolster the squad this summer.

With Sampdoria’s Pedro Obiang reportedly close to signing and Darren Randolph from Birmingham already in the bag, David Sullivan is ensuring no time is wasted as we build a squad capable of competing in Europe and the Premier League without much hassle.

Recently we’ve been heavily linked with a move for Marseille forward Andre Ayew, who is available on a free this summer. Spurs were also thought to be keen on the Ghanaian, and it was believed any hopes of us bringing him to east London rested on whether Marcelo Bielsa was named as our new manager.

But according to MailOnline journalist Lee Clayton, we’re closer to completing a deal for Ayew which, if successful, could prove to be the best bit of business we do this summer.

Some would say he has the ability to play for a club in the Champions League, which says a lot about the player we might be seeing at the Boleyn Ground next summer.

The next seven days are shaping up to be pretty exciting, with a new manager a few new players expected to be confirmed by the club.
