Many of the younger generation may not know that Frank de Boer was an absolutely fantastic footballer in his prime in the late 80s to the early millennium.
Predominantly known for his time with Dutch outfit Ajax and Spanish giants FC Barcelona, de Boer also had stints at Turkish side Galatasaray and Scotland’s Rangers in the latter stages of his highly successful playing career.
Winning the Eredivisie on five occasions as well as the Champions League, La Liga and UEFA Cup as a player, De Boer has also guided Amsterdam side Ajax to four Dutch titles between 2010 and 2014.
Because de Boer has established himself as a good quality manager after being a success as a player, West Ham have taken a keen interest in acquiring his services to replace Sam Allardyce.
With several big names linked with the vacant post at Upton Park, it’s unsurprising that de Boer is the latest name to be linked.
