If West Ham United beat Aston Villa on Monday night, they will go third in the league and level on points with Manchester City.

This would a pretty big turnaround, considering the Hammers lost 5-0 against the Citizens on the opening day of the campaign.

West Ham’s official Twitter page has posted a tweet ahead of kick-off to help gauge the mood among the fans:

There are some supporters who are confident ahead of the game, a feeling which has been helped by the club’s four-game unbeaten run in all competitions, with the last three of those being wins, as per Transfermarkt.

However, some are taking the fact the Hammers could jump to such a high position in the league as a sign that things are bound to go wrong.

Aston Villa showed that they can be very hard to beat under the Villa Park lights, as they defeated Everton 2-0 despite having just 35.2% of possession, as per WhoScored.

It is a performance such as that, mixed with the vision of the club being about to ‘do a West Ham’ that has made some fans reluctant about getting too ahead of themselves.
