Manuel Pellegrini has plenty of work ahead of him at West Ham and could raise his transfer kitty this summer with significant exits.
A number of sales have been mentioned in the press, raising funds for the Chilean manager to spend in the transfer market, and a young defender could be amongst them.
The TimesĀ reports that Pellegrini’s planned overhaul at the London Stadium could see Reece Burke leave the east London side, handing a boost to Rangers.
Steven Gerrard is reported to be keen in the 21-year-old defender and wants to bring Burke north of the border to Glasgow, as he prepares to go head-to-head with Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic next season.
Burke spent this season on-loan with Bolton, making 26 appearances, and the Championship side are also keen on bringing him back to Lancashire next term.
With new defensive additions targeted, Burke is likely to remain outside of Pellegrini’s plans and a sale could prove beneficial for all parties.
