Aston Villa have been handed a massive injury boost ahead of playing West Ham in just over a week’s time.

Matt Targett is set to be back in action after tweaking his hamstring playing a through-ball in Aston Villa’s 6-1 Carabao Cup demolition of Crewe Alexandra, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

The 23-year-old’s return to fitness has been much faster than expected and now the Villans have either him or Neil Taylor to choose from at left-back.

Having cost Aston Villa around £15 million – according to 90Min – West Ham could possibly expect to face the Englishman given how much they wanted him over the summer.

But West Ham are not about to worry about who might play for Aston Villa, they’re fully focused on performing to the best of their ability.

If it is Matt Targett playing, he will have his work cut-out upon his return.

Andriy Yarmolenko’s goal against Norwich should give him the confidence to go on and pursue a good run of form and if that isn’t working, he and Felipe Anderson can switch wings like they did in the first half against the Canaries, to give Targett a completely different challenge.

West Ham should no longer be fearful of the opposition, given their attacking strength and potential to cause damage any time they go forwards.

And with three wins on the bounce, the Hammers are full of confidence going into the game.
