West Ham’s plans for the new Premier League season were issued a huge blow following an injury sustained to Manuel Lanzini but the midfielder has issued an update on his recovery.

The Argentina international was forced to miss his nation’s World Cup campaign in Russia after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in his knee, which led to some outlets stating he will miss the entirety of the 2018-19 season.

However, the 25-year-old has quelled those fears with a post on Twitter where he says he is targeting a return for the start of 2019.

In his post on social media, Lanzini said:

“Some English media have said that my injury will make me miss next season, there there were problems with the surgery – none of this is true.”

“The Surgery went really well.”

“Although I don’t want to set a date, I expect to be ready to play at the beginning of 2019. Thank you.”
