West Ham signed defender Jonathan Spector from Manchester United in summer 2006 after he only managed three league appearances in as many years for Alex Ferguson’s side.

He managed over 100 league appearances for the Hammers without ever really nailing down a starting spot in the side. His most famous day came in a League Cup match against his old club Manchester United when he was promoted to a midfield place.

The American was untouchable and scored twice in a 4-0 thrashing at Upton Park. Spector was released by us in 2011 and has played for Championship outfit Birmingham ever since.
