West Ham secured plenty of new arrivals over the course of the summer transfer window, including signing Jack Wilshere from Arsenal.

The England international moved across London on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with the Gunners, where he had graduated the academy and grown into a first-team player in the squad.

However, Wilshere struggled with a number of injury issues during his years at the Emirates Stadium and has endured a large dip in his standing in the past few seasons.

As such, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher expressed concerns at the signing of the midfielder and believes that praise for the deal has been largely exaggerated.

“I don’t think it’s as good as singing as people are saying. He’s still got to bring a lot more. If I was a West Ham fan I’d be more excited about the wide players than Jack Wilshere.”

Wilshere made his Premier League debut for the Hammers in Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, where he failed to make a positive impact.
