West Ham are battling with AFC Bournemouth for the signature of Nathan Ake and movements could happen as soon as 5pm Sunday, according to a source close to WestHamWorld.co.uk.
It appears that Bournemouth are willing to bid as much as £22m for the Chelsea defender in order to secure a player who had been influential to their success earlier in the season.
West Ham have supposedly made the first bid with a £15m offer and are hoping that the player would prefer a move across London rather than to the South Coast.
It is unlikely that Hammers would match Bournemouth’s bid for Ake but they will be able to offer more attractive wage package and bigger prospects to a player who has developed into a formidable defensive brute.
Chelsea’s title winning manager, Antonio Conte, is an admirer of Angelo Ogbonna from his days at Juventus and could be tempted to accept a lower offer from West Ham in the hopes of the club accepting an offer for a player he knows can fill John Terry’s position at the back with immediate effect.
Chelsea are supposedly looking to bid around £10m for Ogbonna and I wouldn’t rule out a deal involving the player plus cash for Ake.
Maybe we could see a lot of activity between West Ham and Chelsea this summer with Asmir Begovic and Michy Batshuayi also on West Ham’s radar.
