West Ham are set to bid make a bid of £1m for Oxford United’s talented midfielder Ryan Ledson, according to a source close to WestHamWorld.co.uk.

19-year-old Englishman Ledson has been a solid performer for Oxford United this season, making 22 appearances and was named EFL Young Player of the Month for February 2017, an award recently won by current hammer Josh Cullen who is on loan at Bradford City.

Ledson signed for Oxford after featuring for Cambridge United on loan last season from Everton. The scouse youngster who has spent majority of his career at Everton, has also featured for England from U16 to U20 level and was part of the 2014 UEFA European U17 Championship winning team.

The deal for Ledson is a £750k transfer fee with £250k in future appearances and includes a 5% sell on fee, according to our source.

Ledson will also be loaned back to Oxford United for the entirety of the 2017-18 season, where Antonio Martinez is also expected to make a return to the Kassam Stadium.

The development of the two under coach Michael Appleton will help Oxford push for promotion to the Championship and also help two future West Ham players improve their on-field relationship when they are recalled for the 2018/19 season.
