West Ham are fighting to get final pieces of business over the line before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, with the signing of a forward on the brink of being secured.

Reports emerged over the weekend stating Manuel Pellegrini’s interest in Arsenal outcast Lucas Perez and a deal has been negotiated quickly – with an official announcement expected imminently.

Sport Witness has spoken to the agent of the Spanish ace, who spent last season on loan with Deportivo La Coruna, and he confirmed the 29-year-old had agreed a deal with the Hammers.

Perez will sign a three-year deal at the London Stadium, with an option of a further one-year extension, and will sign for a fee reported to be around £5m – a considerably lower figure than the £17m price Arsenal paid two years ago.

Signed in 2016, Perez only spent one year in Arsenal’s squad – scoring seven goals and contributing five assists in 21 appearances.
