A massive deal could be on the horizon at West Ham, with Manuel Pellegrini keen to land further attacking recruits at the London Stadium.

The Hammers have already splashed the cash to land the likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Issa Diop but the latest reported signing could blow those figures out of the water.

According to Spanish outlet El Des MarquesWest Ham are ready to activate the release clause of 21-year-old Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez – a figure that stands at a massive €50m.

The Uruguay international featured for his nation at the World Cup in Russia after a starring first season in European football where he scored 17 goals, finishing seventh in LaLiga’s scoring charts behind the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann.

While the reports sound exciting, they must be taken with a large pinch of salt due to the fees that would be required and the fact that Pellegrini has already spent in excess of £80m in the market.
