The transfer window for the summer is in full swing and West Ham are not wasting any time in getting stuck into their business.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo states Barcelona defender Marlon Santos is on the verge of signing for the Hammers as Manuel Pellegrini’s first acquisition at the London Stadium.

The 22-year-old has caught the eye in the past two seasons on-loan with Ligue 1 side OGC Nice and West Ham are set to sign the Brazil ace on a five-year contract.

Nothing is finalised yet but negotiations between West Ham and Barcelona are said to be at an advanced stage, with the Hammers ready to pay between €15-18m to bring the South American to the Premier League.

Barcelona may negotiate an option to resign the defender in the future, as the Spanish giants have often pushed for those sorts of clauses in transfer deals, although it’s not yet clear whether the LaLiga champions will seek that option.
