West Ham United have made a £19m bid for Leander Dendoncker, according to the print edition of The Daily Express reported via the Sky Sports News Paper Talk page.

Leander Dendoncker is one of West Ham’s key targets in the January transfer window as David Moyes continues to look for a new central midfielder.

The Hammers are light in this department having failed to bring in William Carvalho in the summer window and a central midfielder is Moyes’ priority this month.

Other options for Moyes include Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter, Jonjo Shelvey of Newcastle, Stoke’s Joe Allen and Sevilla’s former Blackburn and Stoke man Steven N’Zonzi.

Anderlecht midfielder Dendoncker is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in the game and he has attracted interest from Manchester United previously.

The 22-year-old reportedly wants to move to the Premier League and West Ham are looking to bring him in from Anderlecht in a similar fashion to how they attracted Cheikhou Kouyate in 2014.

Dendoncker was formerly a centre half, making him a versatile option and a useful defensive asset in midfield.

West Ham have launched a £19m bid for the Belgium international, who is expected to play for Roberto Martinez’s side in this year’s World Cup.
