New West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is battling to improve the side he inherited at the London Stadium but he isn’t blessed with the finances he’s previously worked with.

The Hammers have identified Lazio’s Brazil ace Felipe Anderson as a prime target to bolster their ranks in the final third, after being overly reliant on the services of Marko Arnautovic last season.

West Ham are claimed to have made an opening offer of €20million for the South American ace, though Sky Italia claim Lazio are demanding double that figure.

Negotiations are at an early stage but could be set to meet an impasse in the coming weeks as West Ham are not willing to bid higher than €30m, while Lazio are keen on a €40m figure.

However, Felipe Anderson’s desire to move to the Premier League could hand the Hammers the advantage in negotiations but, as it stands, he’s likely to become the club’s new record signing – surpassing the fee spent on Arnautovic last summer.
