West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek has taken to Twitter to express his motivation to finish the season strongly with West Ham – following national team heartbreak.

Soucek, who is the captain of the Czech Republic national team, has now missed out on a spot in the Qatar World Cup this winter after agonisingly losing to Sweden 1-0 in extra time last week.

Their loss meant that they could not progress to the final round of the playoffs, and the Czech team will now be without a tournament this winter.

However, there is positive news for West Ham fans after the midfield maestro tweeted that he will “now fully focus on his journey with West Ham”, now that his national team aspirations have ended for this year.

The Hammers are through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League and in contention for a place in the top six this season, which means Soucek will need to be in great form for the squad.

There was no doubt that the 27-year-old was not motivated to succeed in a West Ham shirt this season, however it is comforting for Hammers supporters that he has now expressed that his only concern is to finish the campaign on a high.

After his goal against Wales in an international friendly 1-1 draw on Tuesday, Tomas Soucek will come back to West Ham in good form ahead of this weekend’s clash against Everton.

Five goals in all competitions so far this season is slightly below his scoring numbers from last year, however, it is imperative for David Moyes and his squad that the defensive midfielder is fully focused on helping the club have an incredible finish to 21/22 campaign.
