According to reports in the French media, Andre Ayew is trying to push through a move to leave West Ham United and re-join his former club Marseille.
According to French media outlet France Football, reported via Sport Witness, Andre Ayew is “scratching at Marseille’s door” as he attempts to push through an exit.
Andre Ayew only joined the Hammers last summer in a club record transfer fee from Swansea City.
However, the Ghanaian international was injured in his first game for the Hammers and spent a lengthy period on the sidelines.
After returning to the first team fold, Ayew struggled to find his feet for a while and was lacking confidence whilst not getting the game time he needed to regain his confidence.
But the 27-year-old soon stepped up and improved his displays, netting six goals in the Premier League for the Irons.
West Ham fans were perhaps hoping that, with a full pre-season under his belt, we might finally get to see the best of Andre Ayew next season.
However, reports in France are claiming that he wants to return to Marseille.
This would emulate the career path chosen by Dimitri Payet, who joined West Ham from Marseille in summer 2015 but refused to play in order to force a move back to the Ligue 1 side last January.
