Just a few days after Adrian bagged himself a Premier League record for saving three consecutive penalties, we’ve got another record holder within our ranks.
The Premier League have announced on their official site that Carl Jenkinson equaled Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko’s season record of clocking up a speed of 35.3kph in during Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate against QPR – the quickest speed recorded during gameweek 34.
We knew he was pretty quick, but not that quick!
The right-back has been so impressive for us since joining on loan from Arsenal last summer and this further convinces us that we should meet the Gunners’ reported asking price of £10million to make his Boleyn Ground stay permanent.
Jenkinson recently admitted that he’d be open to signing for us in the summer, and given the pace he’s got and the performances he’s put in over the course of the season, we should really consider keeping him.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a capable and promising right-back capable of making the position his own over the years, and Jenko is going along way in proving that could well be that guy.
And to further prove that we have indeed got some pace in our side, Enner Valencia clocked up the weekend’s fourth quickest speed at 34.1kph.
