With the summer transfer window set to open shortly, West Ham United have been linked with a number of strikers.

This season, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho have struggled with persistent injuries while Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza scraped one deflected goal between the two of them.

It is evidently clear that strikers are at the top of Slaven Bilic’s summer wishlist.

Plenty of names have been whispered already and Bilic will have drawn up a shortlist of players to target.

One player that appears on that list, according to French media outlet L’Equipe (via HITC Sport) is Martin Braithwaite.

The 25-year-old plays as a central striker or as a winger and he brings pace and power to the table.

His tally of 11 goals in Ligue 1 this season for Toulouse FC has caught the eye of West Ham and Premier League rivals Southampton.

The Denmark international was wanted by West Ham last summer but the Irons opted against bringing him in.

They could revisit a move for the former Esbjerg winger now, though, as they look to strengthen in the forward areas.

West Ham have sent scouts to track Martin Braithwaite this season with Toulouse requesting a £9m fee for the striker.
