There are some points in life where if you don’t laugh you’ll cry; there are many times like this for West Ham fans, so it’s a good job we’re able to laugh at ourselves.
The pursuit of Maxi Gómez has come to an end, as reported by Sky Sports, so attention is beginning to turn towards who the next target is going to be.
Not all of the ideas are serious though, with one fan suggesting to ExWHUEmployee that West Ham bring Carlton Cole back out of retirement:

While there are many fans who liked Carlton Cole and enjoyed singing his chant, it would be very interesting to see the end result of him coming back.
There have been some cracking suggestions in the replies, which bring back memories of a few shocking strikers who have played for the club over the years.
There was also a mention for Dean Ashton and in all honesty, he was so good he could probably do a job now – with his overhead kick in Mark Noble’s testimonial showing what he can do, even if he did get injured in the process.
Whoever does end up coming to London Stadium – if anyone – will surely be better than those mentioned here.
