West Ham have moved swiftly to appoint former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium and it seems the Chilean is immediately pushing ahead with his transfer plans.
The Hammers have a wealth of work to do in the market after a disappointing campaign, spending the majority of the time flirting with relegation, and Pellegrini’s first piece of business with reportedly come between the sticks.
The Daily Mirror reports that Pellegrini wants highly-rated Reims goalkeeper Edouard Mendy as his first signing, as he seeks to complete a deal worth £2m to install the 25-year-old as his new first-choice stopper.
West Ham will not push ahead for a permanent deal for Joe Hart following his disappointing loan spell from Manchester City and Spain veteran Adrian is also linked with an exit.
Mendy, capped unofficially by Guinea-Bissau, is also said to be a target for Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United as the Premier League side are also looking to improve on their options between the posts.
