Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has predicted that West Ham United will lose 3-1 in tomorrow’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Tomorrow night will see West Ham’s first league match against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, having already beaten Spurs 3-2 in a thrilling cup match earlier in the season.
Andre Ayew bagged a brace that night and Angelo Ogbonna scored a dramatic winner as West Ham reversed a 2-0 deficit to progress in the League Cup.
But Merson believes that West Ham will not enjoy a similar evening tomorrow.
The pundit sees no possible way that West Ham will pick up three points against Spurs.
Writing before our dramatic 2-1 win over West Brom, Merson said:
“I don’t care if West Ham win 27-0 on Tuesday, they are not beating Tottenham.”
Merson thinks that Spurs are too strong for the Irons with plenty of players oozing class.
The only hope he has given is the questionable form of once-reliable goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
“Spurs are a really good team and when they get all their players out they score goals and make lots of chances.
The only worry at the moment for me is Hugo Lloris, who is making some mistakes.
It’s not like him and I think he is a good goalkeeper but he has made some sloppy mistakes. I don’t know if he is getting bored because he is a top goalkeeper.
But with Tottenham getting players back like Davinson Sanchez and then Toby Alderweireld they won’t concede too many goals.”
There are a number of injury problems for West Ham ahead of this game after Aaron Cresswell limped off against West Brom last night, making him a doubt for tomorrow.
Michail Antonio, Andre Ayew, Reece Oxford, Sam Byram, Jose Fonte and Diafra Sakho are also out of contention.
Spurs, meanwhile, are expected to start Kane again after his substitute cameo against Swansea while Danny Rose and Victor Wanyama could be available.
