Gianlucca Scamacca was forced to settle for a place on the bench again this weekend as West Ham lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.

After making his debut as a substitute in the Hammers’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the campaign, the Italy international was given 21 minutes to try and find an equaliser at the City Ground, but was unable to influence the result.

In truth, the striker had to be patient out of possession during his time on the pitch and was only able to have seven touches – that’s one touch of the ball every three minutes.

But Scamacca took to Instagram after the game to admit that while it was another unwanted result for his new team, he and his teammates intend to look forward and work hard to get to put things right.

He posted: “Not the result we want, but we have to look forward and work hard: come on you Irons!”
