Aaron Cresswell has been given a new contract that lasts until 2023, as reported on West Ham’s official channels.

This comes after he scored twice in a row, before the Hammers’ loss against Crystal Palace, with a superb free-kick against Manchester United – the goal that won West Ham’s Goal of the Month – as well as a volley against AFC Bournemouth.

The form he has shown will surely have played a part in the 29-year-old getting his new contract:

However, there are some West Ham fans who don’t feel he should have been given the deal after so few performances.

Both the Englishman and Arthur Masuaku were inconsistent last season, as indicated by the fact they started 18 and 19 Premier League goals respectively, as per WhoScored.

Therefore, the belief among some fans is that Cresswell should have had to show he can perform over a longer period before being rewarded in this way.
