Transfer deadline day has now passed and we now know what our strike force is for the season, but how many goals should we expect from our players from the remaining fixtures in the league?
I’ve got my calculator back out from the drawer and I have come up with these interesting stats based on career games and career goals…
Andre Ayew
241 games 63 goals
0.26 goals per game
1 goal every 344 minutes = 1 goal every 3.8 games
Andy Carroll
216 games 61 goals
0.28 goals per game
1 goal every 318 minutes = 1 goal every 3.5 games
Diafra Sakho
163 games 59 goals
0.36 goals per game
1 goal every 248 minutes = 1 goal every 2.7 games
Simone Zaza
145 games 54 goals
0.37 goals per game
1 goal every 241 minutes = 1 goal every 2.7 games
Jonathan Calleri
75 games 24 goals
0.32 goals per game
1 goal every 281 minutes = 1 goal every 3.1 games
Ashley Fletcher
22 games 4 goals
0.18 goals per game
1 goal every 495 minutes = 1 goal every 5.5 games
By the calculations above, the partnership of Zaza and Sakho is actually our most clinical at the club, followed closely by Calleri and Carroll.
Ayew, understandably, has been a winger for his career but the record signing was bought to become a shadow striker, playing off the shoulders of the defenders and should hopefully acquire a better goal to games ratio by playing in a more advanced role, as we saw during his spell at Swansea City.
Injuries pending, and based over the remaining 35 games in the Premier League, statistics say we should expect the following amount of goals from each player.
