The transfer window may have closed for West Ham but that has not brought an end to one ongoing saga in the market.

Scotland international Robert Snodgrass has been consistently linked with a return to Championship promotion hopefuls Aston Villa, after catching the eye in a debut stint at Villa Park last term.

Snodgrass has since impressed Manuel Pellegrini on his return to east London but speculation suggests Villa are continuing their pursuit right up until the end of the loan window later this month.

With the signings of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko this summer, Snodgrass faces a fight for first-team football at the London Stadium and new Villa man John McGinn has revealed he will try to bring Snodgrass back to the club.

Quoted by The Birmingham Mail, he said:

“I’ll be trying to get him back before the end of the window, that’s for sure.”

McGinn is a new arrival at Villa Park after signing from Scottish side Hibernian last week.
