AC Milan veteran Massimo Ambrosini is locked in talks with West Ham over a possible free transfer to Upton Park this summer.

The 36-year-old midfielder has been told he can leave the San Siro after 18-years at the club and his agent has confirmed that they are seriously considering an offer from the Hammers, while also ruling out a move to the MLS where he has also received interest.

Moreno Roggi told Calciomercato: “Obviously Massimo wants to continue. His preference would be overseas clubs.

“At this moment we are in talks with West Ham, while we have already ruled out Major League Soccer.”

But Roggi also insisted that two times UEFA Champions League winner Ambrosini will not dismiss the opportunity to stay in Italy should the right offer come in.

“If an offer did come in from an Italian side we would not ignore it completely,” he stressed.

As well as his two UEFA Champions League triumphs, Ambrosini has also won four Serie A titles, two UEFA Super Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup, one Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies.
