West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has been awarded with ‘Goal Of The Day‘ by the Premier League for his outstanding free-kick against Stoke City back in 2015.

The 30-year-old was enduring a thoroughly successful individual campaign in east London and his effort against the Potters five years ago epitomised that.

With seven minutes gone, Cresswell stepped up to swing the ball powerfully over the Stoke wall, leaving goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with no chance.

The two sides drew 1-1 on that occasion; ironically it was Marko Arnautovic who grabbed an equaliser for the visitors in the 95th minute at Upton Park.

Since Cresswell signed for West Ham back in 2014, the England left-back has made 179 Premier League appearances, keeping 39 clean sheets and scoring eight times.

The official Twitter account for the Premier League has honoured his effort against Stoke by awarding him with the Goal Of The Day accolade, and plenty of fans have reacted to the post…
