Sam Allardyce has left the building.
We all knew it was going to happen, and the club announced they wouldn’t be renewing his contract just two minutes after this afternoon’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.
It probably wasn’t the best way to go about announcing Allardyce’s departure, but it doesn’t really matter now. He’s gone and the club are now on the hunt for his replacement – hopefully someone capable of leading us in to the Olympic Stadium and successfully taking us to the proverbial next level.
Given the lack of relationship between Big Sam and the Hammers faithful, it wasn’t too surprising to see the response from everyone Twitter immediately after the announcement.
There are fans who would’ve rather us stick with him for a couple more years, while there are others who are thankful for the job Allardyce has done over the last few years.
So here are some of the best tweets about Allardyce’s departure this afternoon…

Allardyce gets the boot. One season too soon. Am I the only West Ham fan with half a brain/any sort of memory of the last 25 years?

So glad to see the back of Big Sam. But at the same time extremely grateful for what he has done. Championship to solid mid table.

Say what you want about Big Sam, from when he took over to now there's been a marked improvement and for that I'll always be thankful

Big Sam has done a good job for us, can't deny. But the last five months has been shambolic. 8 points since Christmas. Can't argue with that

Bye bye Big Sam. Time for a change. History will show that he did a decent job, but I think a certain Croatian is required #whufc
