It’s still hard to believe we’ve already managed to beat Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City away from home this season.
Such success away from the Boleyn Ground can be put down to many factors, but one of the main reasons why we came away from the Etihad Stadium with all three points on Saturday was because of Adrian.
The Spaniard was making his first appearance after serving a three game suspension following his red card in the 2-1 defeat to Leicester last month, and although Darren Randolph stood in for Adrian admirably, it was a relief to have our number 13 back between the sticks.
Adrian made 8 saves against City, some of which were absolutely stunning as the side worked desperately hard to keep shut City out. If it wasn’t for Adrian’s world class showing in goal, it’s fair to say we would’ve been comfortably beaten.
It worked, and Adrian has been rewarded with a spot in Gazzetta’s European Team of the Week, which is compiled from Europe’s top five leagues.
The likes of Winston Reid, Mark Noble, Victor Moses and Aaron Cresswell all put in match winning performances and could’ve made the team as well, but this week it’s Adrian who technically claims the award for Europe’s best goalkeeper…
