West Ham should be cautious of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Filip Kostic in particular ahead of the club’s Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday.
The Hammers face Bundesliga side Frankfurt in the first leg of their semi-final tie and, despite their recent league form, they will be tough opposition for West Ham to overcome.
However, there is one player in particular, Filip Kostic, who has been in exceptional form for the German outfit – especially in the Europa League.
In their quarter-final second-leg with Spanish giants Barcelona, Kostic scored twice and assisted once to play a key role in helping his team through to the next round.
The 29-year-old has also been pivotal for them throughout the past couple of seasons.
Kostic has assisted 31 times over the past two seasons, as well as scoring 11 goals in that same time period. In total, the Serbia international has 95 goal contributions in just 164 appearances.
His attacking contributions are also paired with an excellent ability at set pieces and crossing, to help aid his teammates in front of goal.
With West Ham lacking defensively over the next few weeks, due to having three centre backs out injured, Frankfurt will definitely look to use Kostic’s skills to cause damage to the Hammers’ back line.
With goalscorer Rafael Santos Borre up front for Frankfurt, the German side have enough in attack to inflict problems on David Moyes’ over the course of the two legs.
The Hammers can certainly deal with the attacking problems that Frankfurt could give them, but the players should be wary of what Kostic can do for this fixture.
