With the final match of this Premier League season set to be played on Sunday, the West Ham United clash is something of a dead rubber.

Neither West Ham nor Burnley have much to play for.

The winner of this tie finishes higher in the league while a draw would see West Ham finish above Burnley.

West Ham are currently sitting in 12th place with 42 points while Burnley are 15th on 40 points.

The Clarets have a good record at home this season while West Ham have been indifferent home and away.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash, BBC Football pundit Mark Lawrenson has shared his predictions and it’s another loss for the Hammers.

Lawrenson described how it has been a very average season for West Ham and said:

“Other than their win over Tottenham, West Ham’s season has tailed off in the last few weeks.

Yes, the Hammers are missing some injured players but they have been very average for a while.

When their fans look at this season, it is their new stadium and their summer recruitment that have been the bugbears for them.

For a while it looked like Slaven Bilic’s side were going to get dragged into a relegation skirmish but they are going to get a mid-table finish, which is probably what they deserve.”

Lawro has predicted a comfortable 2-0 win for Burnley.

His competitors for the week are British rock band Royal Blood and their drummer Ben Thatcher disagrees with Lawrenson.

Brighton fan Thatcher believes that West Ham will edge this tie with a 2-1 win at Turf Moor to round off the season.
