We’ve not really had much to shout about in recent months.
A stunning start to the campaign has quickly fizzled out to something more familiar in mid-table mediocrity and disappointing results.
But this morning we were treated to some exciting news regarding our move to the Olympic Stadium – the owners are following through with their promise of affordable football.
The club have confirmed that the cheapest season ticket will cost fans a mere £290. Why so cheap? Why not? We’ll have the newest and most impressive stadium in the Premier League and can pass on the benefits of the new multi-billion TV deal to the fans, the first to do so in the Premier League.
When the board initially claimed that watching West Ham in our new home would be affordable, a lot of fans scoffed at the idea of them, and specifically a Premier League club, giving something back to the fans.
But they’re actually doing it, which doesn’t just make me the proud supporter of the first club to do such a thing, but also extremewly delighted that I’ll be saving money on my season ticket once we move in. Happy days.
And it’s not just me (obviously) who is pretty chuffed with the news. Fans took to Twitter this morning to congratulate the club and the owners in keeping their promise and setting the bar for other football clubs to take note and put the fans first once again.
So while we all wish the season could be over right now, at least we can sit safely in the knowledge that we won’t be priced out of watching our beloved Hammers in the near future.
Here are just a handful of the best tweets after the club confirmed the prices this morning…
