David Gold will be used to the daily abuse he gets from fans on Twitter these days, particularly during our period of embarrassment over the New Year.

And West Ham fans who use Twitter and follow him will be used to his regular witty replies to some fans who, for whatever reason, believe it’s productive and acceptable to publicly abuse a man who bought the club when it was close to administration and has worked extremely hard to change its fortunes, both on and off the pitch, as well as pumping in millions of his own fortune to help reduce the club’s debt.

And Gold’s latest reply to a fan, who had suggested he had ruined the club from top to bottom, was one of his best yet…

What do you think? Was Gold right to respond in that way, or did the fan have a point about him and the club? Personally, Gold does not get enough credit for what he has done for the club thus far.
