Alex Song has dropped the biggest hint yet that he is eyeing a permanent contract at West Ham once his loan deal expires next summer.
The midfielder has been a revelation for us so far this season, and most Hammers fans will still be asking why he’s playing for us instead of at his level in the Champions League – although you won’t hear anyone complaining!
Co-Chairman David Gold has admitted that he’d love to tie Song down permanently at the end of the season, while we all know that he’s the type of player we need to build a team around if we’re to fulfil our ambitions once we move to the Olympic Stadium.
And Song shares those ambitions and insists West Ham are on the verge of being one of the best teams in England. But it’s his use of the word ‘we’ that suggests he has his eyes on a future in claret and blue and wants to be part of a new and exciting era at the club. We know he’s definitely enjoying his loan spell. Let’s just hope we can make it permanent.
