It Was Fun While It Lasted

We might have done it the hard way, but you wouldn’t swap that win at Wembley for automatic promotion, would you?

Last season was a funny ol’ season, wasn’t it? We were favourites to bounce straight back up as Champions. Favourites in every game we played. Favourites do what Newcastle did only a couple of seasons before.

Interview with Jeremy Nicholas – Mr Moon Has Left The Stadium

This is an interview I did with West Ham’s stadium announcer Jeremy Nicholas about his book ‘Mr Moon Has Left The Stadium’, which had just been released. The interview was originally published on my previous website ‘HammerTime’ in September 2011, but seeing as many you of may not have seen it and that it’s still an interesting interview, I thought I’d bring it back to life on this website.

If you haven’t yet read Jeremy’s book then you’ll definitely want to after you’ve read this.

Where are they now? – Marco Boogers

Apparently he ended up in a caravan. Find out where he really ended up.

Here’s an article I wrote for my previous blog a while ago. Thought I might as well post it up here for those that never saw it and for those that still don’t know what ever happened to the ‘legend’ that is Marco Boogers.

It’s Time for a Number 10

Ravel Morrison needs to be given a chance to shine by Big Sam this season.

You can’t win with youth, they said.

There’s no substitute for experience, they said.

They were wrong.  Whoever “they” are, they’ve been proved wrong repeatedly, from Manchester United in the 90s to the current German national team, youth has been proven to be irrelevant.  The only thing that matters is quality.  Enter Ravel Morrison.  Everyone acknowledges his talent.

Most choose to focus on his past troubles.  However, if there’s one thing this West Ham team lacked last season, it was creativity, and Ravel Morrison definitely brings that to the table.

I know he hasn’t been tested at the highest level, and only the manager, backroom staff, and the players know what he’s truly capable of, but I can’t help thinking he needs to at least be given a shot.  We haven’t had a true number ten in what seems like forever, and I feel we could really use one to add another dynamic to our gritty, workman midfield.

Not only that, but it would allow Big Sam to run his preferred 4-5-1 without sacrificing real attacking ability.

Like I’ve said, it remains to be seen whether or not Morrison can make the step up to the toughest league, but that doesn’t mean he can’t.  I’d like to see him with considerably more playing time this season, and I’m hopeful that it will be beneficial to both the club and Ravel himself.

It’s time for a number 10.
