News emerging this afternoon suggests former Paris Saint-Germain winger Nene is having a medical at Chadwell Heath today.
Chairman David Sullivan revealed last week that he is in the market for a free-agent striker who could fill the void left by Andy Carroll’s latest season-ending injury.
The 33-year-old Brazilian left Qatar side Al-Gharafa in January and is thought to be in London ahead of a short term deal with the club.
Nene can play as a winger or a striker and appears to be the perfect fix for what has become something of a shortage in attack for boss Sam Allardyce.
His goal scoring record has been pretty impressive wherever he has played during his career, including scoring 21 goals in 35 Ligue 1 games for PSG in 2011-12, which saw him finish joint-top scorer of the league alongside Olivier Giroud.
He might be knocking on a bit age wise, but he looks like he could bring a lot of quality and experience to our side as we look to push on and secure a top eight finish in the Premier League at the very least.
Here’s what some of the fans on Twitter have been saying about the potential deal..

Maybe this nene will be brilliant for us? Certainly looks different to what we've got already. #coyi #whufc

Nene would be a decent signing on a free. Plenty of goals in him and is effective both on the wing and as a striker. #COYI #WHUFC

We would finally have a good free-kick taker if we signed nene too. fed up with others not even hitting the target #whufc

Can't wait till Nene doesn't play and just watches Cole come on and play on the wing! #COYI
