Last night saw us grind out another important three points away from to continue our surprise quest for European football.

Ok, so we probably won’t finish anywhere near the top six come May, bit it’s difficult not to be getting a little bit carried away given our current form.

It’s funny how things can change so drastically in the space of just five or six months. The last time we visited The Hawthorns we were holding up banners calling for Sam Allardyce to be sacked immediately.

But last night it was the Baggies fans who were growing more and more frustrated with their owner’s lack of action towards dismissing manager Alan Irvine. Not a lot of people know much about the man but, having scanned the West Brom message boards after last night’s win, I now know he’s not a very popular man with the fans.

Reading the Baggies fans’ despair as they moaned and groaned about baffling tactics, strange substitutions and key players being played out of position, I could only feel sympathy for them – we know exactly how they feel!

But amongst the calls for Irvine’s head, there were some comments on the game and West Ham hidden deep within the West Brom forums.

Here’s what the Baggies fans thought of last night’s game…

“Why wasnt the overhead kick a foul?”

“WHU are doing what I wish we would do, closing us down quickly from the front not allowing us to play, hence we look clueless and give the ball away repeatedly, or we hoof it. When West Ham have the ball at the back we are sitting off them.”

“West Ham doing well this year, 5th at the moment. Not making excuses but they have been doing well. But it’s not dead yet. West ham don’t look great at the back either.”

“I want to smash things. I’m so angry. This bloke needs to go now.”

“You do suspect that if West Ham needed it they’d have [scored] more.”

“Started okay and then nothing until it was too late again. Trying to defend a 1-0 at half after 18 minutes is baffling.”

“I would agree we started better than West Ham but I just think they took longer to get going. West Ham passed it well and created chances not because we backed of but because they are better than we are. I also think that once they were ahead we appeared to play better as they are no longer chasing the game, they happily saw the game out and I bet Big Sam will say how well they defended in the second half!”
