The goalkeeper hunt at West Ham is heating up — and fast.

With Lukasz Fabianski now gone and Alphonse Areola struggling for consistency last season, Graham Potter is pushing hard to bring in a new No.1. As revealed by reliable insider ExWHUEmployee, securing a new goalkeeper is the manager’s “priority” in the coming weeks.

“I can report that the main priority for the club this week is securing a new goalkeeper,” Ex said earlier this week.

A shortlist has already emerged, with names like Mads Hermansen of Leicester and Michael Cooper of Sheffield United in the mix. But the top target, according to Ex, is Zion Suzuki — the 22-year-old Japan international currently at Parma, widely considered one of the most exciting young goalkeepers in Serie A.

“My understanding is that the main choice is Zion Suzuki of Parma – however it’s not clear if he wants to depart Italy yet in his career,” Ex said.

And now, in what could be a twist in the saga, Suzuki has missed training — sparking new speculation about a possible move.

According to Gazetta dello Sport, Zion Suzuki did not take part in Parma’s training session on Wednesday.

No reason was given, but it’s not believed to be injury-related — raising eyebrows about whether a transfer could be imminent, either to West Ham or another club.

Standing at 6’3″, Suzuki has turned heads in Serie A with his performances this past season, keeping eight clean sheets in a Parma side that often found itself under siege.

His rise has been sharp. Previously with Urawa Red Diamonds and a loan spell at Sint-Truiden in Belgium, Suzuki turned down a move to Manchester United in 2023, opting to play regular football and develop rather than sit on the bench at Old Trafford.

That gamble paid off — and now, it looks like the Premier League could still be on the cards, just a year later.

With Potter desperate for a reliable long-term option between the sticks, this could be one to keep a very close eye on.
