West Ham have endured a difficult maiden season at the London Stadium, with part of their issues being down to poor recruitment last summer.

The Hammers pushed to strengthen their forward line with the addition of Simeone Zaza on-loan from Juventus, with the Italian backed to shine, but he failed to impress in the Premier League.

Zaza’s loan stint in East London was cut-short in January and he subsequently moved on-loan to Valencia, in a deal which has since become permanent after he matched an appearance clause in his deal- netting four goals in the process.

It’s a huge improvement for a player who failed to score a single Premier League goal for the Hammers and Football.London cites comments made from the Italian to Spanish publication AS.

“I’m not a phenomenon, I’m not the best in the world.”

“What matters most to me is that people know I will give everything I have, because after the negative period at West Ham I suffered a lot,”

Zaza isn’t the only summer recruit to have struggled at the London Stadium though, as the likes of Sofiane Feghouli, Andre Ayew and Gokhan Tore have all endured difficult spells for a variety of reasons.
