West Ham have reached a “total agreement” for the signing of Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo this summer, according to an update from the reliable David Ornstein.
Julen Lopetegui has made an encouraging start to life as the new Hammers manager, having succeeded David Moyes in the role, looking to take them up a further level.
The Spaniard has made some stellar signings with the big help of Tim Steidten, with the likes of Max Kilman and Crysencio Summerville coming in, among others.
Now, it looks as though West Ham are on the verge of completing their latest addition, with Ornstein taking to X to claim that Todibo has reached an agreement to arrive from Ligue 1 side Nice:
“West Ham reach total agreement with Nice to sign Jean-Clair Todibo; season-long loan + buy option. Personal terms in place, 24yo France international set for medical. Juventus still interested but WHUFC working to complete.”
This could be such an exciting signing for West Ham, considering Todibo is a highly-rated figure who has been linked with moves to some huge clubs in the past, including Manchester United.
The 24-year-old should come straight in as an influential starter for the Hammers, having now racked up 136 appearances for Nice, as well as winning two caps for France. Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsey once heaped praise on his former teammate, saying of him:
“Jean-Clair is a very interesting character; he’s very confident and he’s a great guy around the dressing room and he’s a very, very talented player, who can go all the way to the top. For him, it is important to keep his feet on the ground, strive for more, and take in as much information as possible.”
This has been a real summer of intent from West Ham, in terms of the business they have completed, and Todibo could be another big step towards them securing European football in 2024/25.
Lopetegui has an excellent squad at his disposal, and if he can bring in a top-quality striker, which remains a crucial area of focus, the east Londoners could even have an outside chance of pushing for a Champions League finish, even though that remains unlikely.
