It’s the January transfer window and rumours of all kinds of potential signings are flying around at the moment.

With our efforts to bring a striker in before Monday’s 11pm deadline, this latest picture might have some fans dreaming of the biggest transfer in the history of the beautiful game.

Manuel Lanzini posted a picture of himself and the world’s greatest ever player – Lionel Messi – on his Instagram earlier today, both of them holding each other’s clubs’ shirts.

Messi played at the Boleyn Ground and is the club and international team mate of both Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano – so he’s obviously knows a lot about the greatest team in the world.

But he’s never been pictured holding up our shirt, which he has signed!

Manuel Lanzini signed his Barcelona shirt, which I can’t help but laugh at. But then again, Lanzini is one of our best players and an exciting Argentine youngster coming through the ranks – Messi clearly appreciates that.

Let’s just hope Lanzini had a word in his ear and tried to tempt him to east London at some point. After all, Barcelona would still be the world’s best team without him – Luis Suarez and Neymar will see to that – and it wouldn’t hurt him financially if he were to come and play for us until the end of the season free of charge.

We’ve got a good relationship with Barcelona, so let’s just call it a gesture of a good will. How about that, Barca? Up for it?
