West Ham United have recently been linked with a move for Henry Onyekuru.

Over the past few days, West Ham have now emerged in pole position to sign the in-demand attacker.

Henry Onyekuru is wanted by a number of clubs across Europe, including a host of Premier League sides.

Arsenal had held advanced negotiations with Onyekuru but he might choose West Ham instead because the Irons are more likely to offer him regular playing time in the first team.

There is no doubt that signing Henry Onyekuru would be a risk for West Ham but we are desperate for someone of his profile.

The Nigerian international is able to operate as a winger or as a striker and he netted 25 goals in the Belgian First Division last season, making him the joint top scorer in the top tier in Belgium.

Admittedly this is not the best barometer for whether he will score goals in England.

But the KAS Eupen attacker was playing for a poor team and shining against the likes of Anderlecht and Standard Liege, who have shown that they are tough opponents in Europe.

The 20-year-old is therefore regarded as one of the most exciting talents coming out of Belgium right now.

Onyekuru, who is valued at just £5.95m by transfermarkt.com, would bring genuine blistering pace and an eye for goal to West Ham.

While his talent is still raw, he would be a cheap option that is worth the gamble.

The talented youngster has a release clause of £7.85m and his wage demands are £35,000 per week – a snip in today’s market.
