Declan Rice continues to earn praise from high places as he continues to develop into one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.
The England international was once again at his very best as West Ham beat Liverpool 3-2 at London Stadium on Sunday evening.
Rice was a standout performer against a Reds midfield that included the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and, later in the game, Thiago Alcantra.
And after the game, the midfielder earned praise from one of the best defenders in Premier League history. Ex-Chelsea and England star John Terry took to Twitter to say: “Declan Rice is the best in his position in world football. What a player.”
Regardless of whether you like Terry or not, you can’t deny the fact his opinion counts for a hell of a lot in this discussion. The retired centre-half has over 750 career appearances under his belt and has won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, a Champions League and a Europa League.
So he certainly knows what he’s talking about, and perhaps it’s Terry’s comments that might bring any of the remaining doubters of Rice’s ability around to the fact we’re witnessing the rise of a world superstar.
