West Ham’s Dream XI for the 16/17 season…

After such an incredible season last term, all eyes are now firmly focused on how Slaven Bilic chooses to strengthen his squad in the summer.

The reason we were so successful last term is because of the quality and strength in depth we had in the squad.

But with Alex Song, Emmanuel Emineke and Victor Moses all set to return to their parent clubs and Diafra Sakho seemingly on his way out, Bilic will need to bring in stronger players in order for us to improve.

So we’ve had a look at what our ‘Dream XI’ might look like next season. This is our most ideal starting line-up for the opening day of the new campaign in August…

GK: Adrian

No contest here. Adrian has been superb for us over the past two-and-a-half seasons and although Darren Randolph played well when called upon last season, the Spaniard remains our first choice stopper.

LB: Aaron Cresswell

Cressy has been a solid left-back ever since he arrived from Ipswich two years ago.

Ever-present and extremely consistent.

CB: Winston Reid

Reid suffered with injuries and form last term but he’s probably still our best centre-back. Of course James Collins stood in admirably when he needed to but Reid should still be our main man back there.

CB: Angelo Ogbonna

Ogbonna improved as the season went on and eventually became one of the first names on the team sheet. As solid as they come.

RB: Djibril Sidibe

A solid 23-year-old right-back who we have been linked with this summer.

WhoScored.com label some of his main strengths as defensive contribution, dribbling, tackling and crossing.

CM: Cheikhou Kouyate

Arguably one of the best midfielders in the Premier League? You can’t deny that he’s so important to us at the very least, and he’d happily slot in to most top six clubs’ midfield too.

CM: Mark Noble

Captain fantastic.

Noble had his best season in claret and blue last term and will undoubtedly continue that form in to next season and in to our new era.

LW: Gokhan Tore

He’s a favourite of Bilic’s and reports at the moment claim we’re close to finally bringing him to east London. You just know he’ll be a permanent fixure in any Bilic side and he’ll be a welcome addition to our squad.

RW: Sofiane Feghouli

Another deal we’re reportedly close to agreeing, Feghouli is a highly-rated winger who is a free agent after his Valencia contract expires this summer.

The fact he has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United says a lot about how good the Algerian is.

CAM: Dimitri Payet

No explanation needed.

ST: Alexandre Lacazette

Reports suggest we’ve returned with a £32m bid for the Frenchman and are hellbent on making him a West Ham player this summer.

As marquee striker signings go, Lacazette is well up there with the biggest. Make it happen, Sully.
